Lithuanian Firms Are Used to Evade Sanctions, Access Western Technology
The threat evaluation, issued by national security and investigation authorities, highlighted three firms as examples of entities allegedly linked to Russia and Belarus that exploited Lithuanian businesses in this way. The companies cited were BK Software, NTLab, and Kosminis Vytis.
The report indicated that such schemes frequently involve reviving companies with minimal or no recent commercial activity.
Lithuanian intelligence noted that Vilnius-based BK Software, led by a Russian national, allegedly circumvented sanctions through a partnership with a Hong Kong company owned by another Russian. BK Software is reportedly under EU and US sanctions as a key supplier of microelectronics components used by Russian firms to manufacture drones.
NTLab and Kosminis Vytis were also reportedly employed to acquire Western technologies with both civilian and military applications. Intelligence officials stated that actors connected to the Russian and Belarusian defense sectors used these Lithuanian companies to establish links with foreign firms and secure access to advanced technologies.
